Jonas Mols (aka OtB_RedBaron) is a professional poker player from Belgium and he is specialized in NLHE (No Limit Texas Hold’em). Some sources claim that so far he won more than 2 million dollars from poker, while others say that he has total earnings between 4 and 5 million dollars, playing mostly in online tournaments and cash games with stakes of around $ 25 / $ 50.
He was initially discovered in 2012 by HighStakesDB, and this was also the year when he documented his goal to play 100,000 hands on Pokerstars. The entire journey was presented in a forum thread on the Two Plus Two forum. His goal was to achieve at least a 6 EV bb/100 win rate in 20 days.
On the first attempt he only made 3.9 EV bb/100, but still won $ 33,000. He achieved this in double the amount of the planned days – 40. But on the second try he exceeded his goal and made a 7 EV bb/100 win rate. He then started to play high stakes games and was not that active anymore on forums.
He became better and better by playing every day and analyzing his game, and was named a “boss” by many professional players. Pro Andres Artinano observed his games and ranked him among the top 3 players in the world at the 6-max no limit Texas hold-em game. Other websites considered him number 1 in the world at this type of poker.
Some of his best live wins of 2012 were:
- The 3rd place at the £ 1,000 + 80 No Limit Hold'em, Palm Beach Big Game in London, where he won $ 15,070
- The 1st place at the £ 500 + 50 No Limit Hold'em - High Roller, Genting Poker Series - Leg 2 in London, where he won $ 14,142
- The 10th place at the € 1,700 No Limit Hold'em - Main Event, Belgian Poker Series - Grand Final in Namur, where he won $ 13,752
Later on, in 2016 he played at the World Championship of Online Poker $ 102,000 Super High Roller, but unfortunately was busted by the one who eventually won the championship – bencb789.
In 2018 he won a consistent pot of $ 157,425 against Timofey Kuznetsov. Jonas Mols had a pair of Kings, while Timofey had a pair of Aces, and they agreed to run in twice. Both of the boards contained a King and no Aces, so OTB_RedBaron won the entire pot.
He also played in live tournaments, having total winnings of more than $ 50,000, but as we mentioned earlier, his major wins come from online tournaments and cash games.
