PocketFives

PocketFives.com is one of the oldest and most established poker forums and communities in the world. It was founded way back in 2005 by three friends: Riley Bryant, Adam Small and Cal Spears. It is used by thousands of people from all over the world each day and while it focuses on online poker tournaments, it has information and threads on all poker topics.

They chose this name because the pocket fives hand is a very popular one, the favorite starting hand for many pro or amateur players. Also named as “presto”, this hand developed its own subculture, making it interesting and mysterious. And this was a perfect name for the community around this website.

In just 5 years the website reached 100,000 members from countries all over the world. They started by raking online players but eventually posted other information as well. Today they still have complex player rankings, including by country, city, region and other criteria.

The website has plenty of categories, including Poker Community, Advice and Strategy, Poker Sites, Live Poker, Legislation, Bad Beats, Reviews and other Off Topic discussions. They also have useful articles on various poker topics written by their staff, and also blog entries submitted by website members.
