Born in 1980 in Helsinki, Finland, Patrik Antonius is one of the most popular poker players in the world. He is known for his aggressive style of playing and has tournament earnings of $12 million. He is the number 1 player in the Finnish rankings and the 52nd in the All-Time Money List worldwide.
He grew up in the city of Vantaa and was playing tennis at the age of 12. But then he started to show interest in poker, and was playing 5-card draw with his friends. They weren’t even aware of all the rules, and invented some of their own.
At the age of 18 he went to a casino in Helsinki to play his first live poker tournament and he ended up winning it. He turned $25 into $260, and this made him become more interested in poker and less interested in tennis.
But he was still a beginner, and he went broke multiple times during the next 2 years. He eventually cracked the code and started to make a living from poker.
He made his way to stardom in 2005 when he placed well in multiple important events. He was 12th at the PCA, he won the Ladbrokes Scandinavian Championships (for $66,261), he was 3rd at the EPT Barcelona (for $145,067), 2nd at the WPT Five Diamond Classics in Las Vegas (for $1,046,470) and also won the EPT Baden.
He continued to play well and appeared multiple times on the Poker After Dark show. Besides being good at tournaments, he was also great at heads up cash games and played on Full Tilt Poker. He eventually became a sponsored pro.
He gained a lot of fans thanks to his aggressive style of playing and good looks. He appeared on multiple poker TV shows and played some legendary hands. But his best moment was when he won the biggest pot in online poker history. It was a heads up game on Full Tilt against Viktor Blom (Isildur1), and Patrik Antonius won a single pot of $1,356,946.
Other important results were the 2nd place at the Aussie Millions $250,000 Challenge in 2012 (for $1,235,369) and the 3rd place at the Aussie Millions Main Event 2013 (for $633,419).
In 2018 he won the PartyPoker Millions Rozvadov Super High Roller for $520,610, and later on the same year placed third at the PartyPoker Millions Barcelona Super High Roller for $491,117. In August 2018 he also placed 2nd at the PartyPoker Millions Sochi High Roller for $178,823 and then 2nd at the Super High Roller Bowl China winning an amazing 3 million dollars.
While no one knows the exact Patrik Antonius net worth, it’s definitely comprised of 7 figures.
