Daily Jackpot Tables on The Hive Network

The Hive network is currently one of the fastest growing networks within the online poker market. Being an Italian based poker network, the playing field is one of the softest among online poker networks, with plenty of recreational players, coming also from sports betting. Moreover, third party rakeback providers, such as RakeAdvisory, are offering very good by default rakeback deals on several poker rooms within this networks and even higher deals for high volume grinders.

Recently, The Hive has decided to add some new features for cash games, adding to the regular 6-max tables some 5-max daily jackpot tables. The measure was intended to attract new recreational players, improving even more the fish to regulars ratio. Therefore, this new feature has also brought regular grinders from regular tables to daily jackpot ones.

The Jackpot starts with a minimum of €100 every day and depending on the stake level the winning hand is played the following percentage of the jackpot are paid out:

Stake Level Jackpot Payout
NL10 (5c/10c) 50%
NL25 (10c/25c) 75%
NL50 (25c/50c) 85%
NL100 (50c/€1) 100%

In order for a hand to qualify for the Bad Beat Jackpot the following criteria must be met:

  • The hand must be played on a No Limit Texas Hold’em Cash Game table called ‘Daily Jackpot’
  • The losing hand must be a straight or better
  • The hand must go to a showdown
  • Both hole cards must be used to make the strongest losing hand
  • Three or more players must be dealt into the hand at the start

In order to better understand the impact of this feature to the grinders who play cash games within The Hive Network, RakeAdvisory has made a list of the main pros and cons of this measure.

Pros:

  • Softer playing field as more recreational players are attracted by the huge prizes which may be earned by the jackpot
  • More action/dynamics at the tables (since there are less players at a table, there is also more action involved)
  • The chance to win extra cash via the daily jackpot without paying any extra fee(if you are facing a huge bad beat)
  • The advantage to play on anonymous tables without the chance that your opponents could interpret your playing stats

Cons:

  • No HUD is available on daily jackpot tables(even if you use hand converters)
  • Paying more rake as the blinds come more often at a 5-max than a 6-max cash game
  • One has to adapt his by default opening ranges to the table dynamics
